MyWorkPLAN yields cost savings at Burgmann Automotive

At its plant in Eurasburg, Germany, Burgmann Automotive Gmbh manufactures a range of seals, joints and couplings for automotive applications. The company is part of Eagle Burgmann Industrie which has a turnover of 500 million euros and around 3000 employees. The company’s Burex® Decoupler isolates vibrations between the motor and the exhaust system, absorbing axial, lateral and angular relative movements, reducing stress within the system and contributing to noise reduction. Burgmann Automotive also produces high temperature joints, as well as mechanical seals for rotating shafts, used in applications such as air conditioning compressors, injection pumps and turbo chargers.

To improve operational efficiency, Burgmann Automotive installed MyWorkPLAN job management software from Sescoi. In particular the company needed to improve the transparency f its processes so that it could see the status of jobs in the production cycle, monitor costs at every stage, record tooling and special machine requirements, and allocate items to individual cost centres. Klaus Lange, Head of Maintenance & Toolmaking said, “We have been actively involved in the ongoing development of MyWorkPLAN. Many of our suggestions have been incorporated into the software, plus we can personalize the software to suit our exact requirements. We are very satisfied indeed with the results, which enable us to quickly find the total costs, based on a breakdown from our cost centres.”

Burgmann Automotive has 4 seats of MyWorkPLAN. These are used for management, administration and order input, and the recording of production times on the shop floor. MyWorkPLAN enables the company to use the time and the job information it gathers to create delivery notes and evaluate performance according to cost centres. It also includes tools for filtering and analysing data. Klaus Lange added,”The software is very easy to use and makes it simple for us to measure cost savings and improvements in production.”

By loading the details of orders into MyWorkPLAN, Burgmann Automotive has seen improvements in accuracy through greater analysis of the technical details. Klaus Lange said, “The structured approach enabled by the software has resulted in fewer manufacturing stoppages, producing significant cost savings” Previously, knowledge about the progress of a job was held by individuals. Now, with the complete transparency made possible by MyWorkPLAN, a quick enquiry in the software establishes a job’s exact location and status. He continued, “We have better control of order picking for finished and semifinished parts, visibility of additional operations such as milling or turning, and we can predict the length of outsourced operations more accurately, which results in better on-time delivery performance.”
